our values

child development and play

Play improves the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being of children and young people.

Play is fundamental to childhood, and it is through play that children learn about the world, and about themselves.

In our busy world, play can often be overlooked as frivolous or a waste of time. Time and again science has proven the importance of self-directed, intrinsically motivated play - especially when in nature. We believe in giving children back their right to play as outlined in the UN's convention on the rights of the child article 31.

We firmly believe in giving children age appropriate responsibility - encouraging self development and empowering them to make decisions for themselves, all whilst being guided gently by nurturing adults who believe in them. It is incredible watching the children dramatically improve their social, emotional and mental health.
